Our Story
The founder of CMC company is John Vahala (later John). John's journey into the construction industry began at an impressively young age of 12 years. Growing up surrounded by his father and grandfather, both skilled craftsmen in Czech Republic. His grandfather specialized in building wooden family houses and pergolas, while his father worked as a local handyman and building manager. This early exposure laid the groundwork for John's passion and expertise in construction.

As he entered his teenage years, John sought to expand his knowledge and skills by taking on parttime work at nearby construction companies during weekends and summer holidays. This hands-on experience continued until he graduated with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Technology in Brno. Interestingly, despite his immersion in the construction field, John chose to pursue a degree in chemistry, driven by his longstanding love for the subject, which had been ignited during high school.

After University, he began his professional career as a laboratory chemist at the Government Institute of Health, where he focused on analyzing drinking, surface, pool, and wastewater. However, after nearly two years in a role that became increasingly routine, John felt a lingering sense of dissatisfaction. He missed the dynamic and creative aspects of building things with his own hands. At this time John was visited by a classmate who had lived in Canada for many years. Which was the last step to completely change John's life.

In 2016, John moved to Toronto, where he initially worked as a local handyman. This shift marked the beginning of his ascent in the Canadian construction industry, as he moved through various roles in construction and renovation companies, ultimately leading him to Vancouver.
In 2022, John founded CMC, a small construction company that emphasizes high-quality services tailored to meet the needs of clients in and around Vancouver, particularly in the City of Burnaby. CMC distinguishes itself not only through its commitment to craftsmanship but also through its vision of providing comprehensive construction solutions.

John envisions a future where his company can manage complete home-building projects, overseeing everything from the initial groundwork and sewerage installation to the final touches, ultimately presenting clients with the symbolic golden key to their dream homes.
